Dreams & ambition

When I was seven, I wanted to be a flight attendant, purely because of the uniform. I'd seen one in a television advert, pulling a neat little suitcase, and decided that was the life for me. Then I took my first flight at twelve, got airsick before the plane had even left the ground, and the dream ended there. So I can't claim I stick to every dream, but once I've picked a realistic one, I'm fairly stubborn. I've been saving for a master's degree for three years now, and I've turned down two holidays with friends to keep the fund intact. My parents were supportive in their own practical way. They never laughed at my ideas, but they'd always add, 'Fine, as long as you can pay the rent.' At the time it annoyed me; now I see their point. As for the next few years, my big goal is to get into a marketing programme in Melbourne. I need a 7.0 in IELTS first, which is why I'm sitting here talking to you instead of sleeping in.
